YALC 2022 | DAY TWO

It’s hard to believe that day two of YALC 2022 is already over, but time sure does fly!

Signings

Today had a few more signings than yesterday, which is always exciting!

Ayana Gray was one of my top must-see authors. I read Beasts of Prey and absolutely loved it. It’s such a fast-paced, unique, and atmospheric story. Ayana’s writing style is beautiful, and I’m so happy I got to meet her today.

I also met Dean Atta, who wrote The Black Flamingo (among other things) - Dean was so friendly and upbeat, and it was really great to meet him and talk about writing, reading, and meeting other bookish people!

Nikita Gill was another of my must-meet authors. Nikita is one of my favourite poets of all time, and she is a huge inspiration to me as a poet and author.

Nikita was so excited and encouraging. She gave me some incredible advice for my own poetry and writing, and was one of the sweetest people I’ve ever met.

I also met Becky Jerams and Ellie Wyatt, an author duo, and a BAFTA-winning children's composer and a K-Pop song writer.

The characters in their book The Songs You’ve Never Heard write music, and those songs are also available on an album, so you can listen while you read!

Book Haul

Today’s book haul was a little bigger than yesterday’s, but I did get quite a few free books too(*)! I picked up copies of:

- This Book Kills by Ravena Guron*

- We Are All Constellations by Amy Beashel*

- My Mechanical Romance by Alexene Farol Follmuth

- Beasts of Ruin by Ayana Gray

- Only a Monster by Vanessa Len

- Strange the Dreamer, and Muse of Nightmares by Laini Taylor

- It Will End Like This by Kyra Leigh*

- The Songs You’ve Never Heard by Becky Jerams and Ellie Wyatt

- The Guinevere Deception, The Camelot Betrayal, and The Excalibur Curse by Kiersten White*

- Before Takeoff by Adi Alsaid*

- The Magic Fish by Trung Le Nguyen

Raffles, Giveaways & Games

So, as I mentioned yesterday, there are always plenty of raffles, giveaways, and games going on during YALC. Today I won a spin-the-wheel game, which earned me a copy of This Book Kills by Ravena Guron. I also received a free ARC of We Are All Constellations by Amy Beashel, which was signed by the author!

As I mentioned earlier, I was given a few books free by the lovely man at the PGUK table too!

One of the other highlights to my day was finally meeting Nazia from Orbit UK in person! I often say that Nazia is like a Bookish Fairy Godmother, and I still stick to that title now!
